This is a photo of a fire escape i took around college. I was looking at it and realised it looks grey and dreary like most areas around college. So i desided to edit it in photoshop to look more colourful and upbeat. The colours are not compleatly realistic but it shows the idea of how the area would look with more colour. I changed the colour by playing around with colour balance so it looked more bright and alive. This could be used in a article about area's looking grey and boring and cheering up the area to look more bright and inviting.
This is a photo of a piece of art that is in the college. The painting is good but i thought making it more colourful would make it look more abstract. I edited it in photoshop, i was planing on just change the colours but there was a rainbow effect that made the painting look negative aswell. This made it look even better and stand out more. This photo could be used in a story about artwork in college and how you can change a piece of art to look different.

The original photo i took had a blue sky and looked like a sunny day however it had a tree without any leaves included. I desided to change it to a dark sky because i thought it would work better with the tree with bad weather against it making ti look more miserable. I also like the contrast of the dark sky and creepy tree against the normal cars and buildings. I edited the photo in photoshop using a magic wand tool and changed the colour of the sky using the colour contrast to change it from blue to grey. This photo could be used with a story about Taxi's as it has two pictures of taxi's in it.

I didn't change this photo as i thought it looked
natural. I had just catched the moment when the
traffic warden was writing a ticket for a car. I think a story that would fit with this photo would be "Sloppy parked traffic warden gives out ticket" As it is showing a traffic warden writing a ticket. This a link to the story:

have to ask permission from them to include there
faces in the article, it is easier to just cut them out.

Photo Manipulation
Photos have been manipulated for many years to produce different opinions and meaning. Also the government change photos as a weapon against people so people have a certain opinion about the photo. It is also used in war to show the people at home what is going on so they can see something is wrong or not right. In the Vietnam war the press were let loose to film and photograph what they pleased and this was the last time they were allowed because they showed the people the more real side of the war they might not have know back home. The photo called "The Vietnam execution" could either be seen as a crazy general executing a civilian or a general shooting a criminal, this just shows how you can so easily change the meaning of a photo. Different peoples perspectives can change the meaning of a photo as people think different and have different views. You can also change a photo by photoshoping or cropping an image, this can alter the context. The juxtaposition of "The Vietnam execution" and the film that goes with it alters the meaning of the photo as you can see what happened befor he was killed and after.
